DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN ANTALYA
Arrival in Antalya, where you will be welcomed by your local guide and transferred to your hotel. Dinner and overnight near Antalya.
DAY 2: MYRA KAYA FETHIYE
This tour will take you west from Antalya first. On the way you will visit the rockcut tombs in the ancient Lycian town of Myra. There are necropolises in the form of templefronts carved into the vertical faces of cliffs at Myra: the rivernecropolis and the oceannecropolis. Close to Fethiye you will stop in a village of Kaya, or Ghost townn. The village is noteworthy by its historical significance as well as its beautiful natural surroundings of the sea, forests, plains and hills. The first thing, you are likely to see are the ruins of the Greek town. Levissi (original name) was vacated in line with the stipulations of the agreement of the Turkish Greek population exchange on the 30th June 1923. Kaya has been declared a historical monument. DAY 3: DALYAN/KAUNOS KUSADASI
Another day in Lycia will take you to Dalyan. Life in Dalyan revolves around the Dalyan Cayi River which flows past the town. The boats that ply up and down the river, navigating the maze of reeds, are the preferred means of transport to all the local sites. Above the river's sheer cliffs are the weathered facades of Lycian tombs cut from rock, circa 400 BC. The ruins of the ancient trading city of Kaunos are a short boat trip across the river. Dinner and overnight is planned in Kusadasi, a resort town of the Aegean coast.
DAY 4: EPHESUS HOUSE OF THE VIRGIN MARY
On this day you will be browsing the streets of Ephesus, a fabulous ancient city, one of the largest cities of the ancient time, which had a population of more than 250,000 in the 1st century BC. These are some of the monuments, you can see in Ephesus: the Odeon, the marble street, the Curetes Way, the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian, or the Theatre. Afterwards you will also visit a nearby House of the Virgin Mary, believed to have been the last home of Mary, mother of Jesus. It is a popular place of pilgrimage which has been visited by three recent popes. Dinner and overnight in Kusadasi.
DAY 5: PAMUKKALE HIERAPOLIS
Today you will take the direction to the east to Pamukkale. Pamukkale means "cotton castle" in Turkish, it contains hot springs and travertines, terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water. Together with Hierapolis, an ancient Greek city on top of hot springs, they are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hot springs there have been used as a spa since the 2nd century BC, and people came to soothe their ailments, with many of them retiring or dying here. The large necropolis is filled withsarcophagi. Hierapolis is located adjacentto Pamukkale. Dinner and overnight in Pamukkale.
DAY 6: TAURUS NOMADS ANTALYA
You will slowly return from Pamukkale toAntalya. On the way you will visit a carpet manufactory and will be acquainted with history, dying, techniques etc. The Turkish carpets have exuberant colours, motifs, and patterns, and are traditionally woven by women. After lunch you will proceed through the Taurus Mountains, and stop at nomads, the Yörüks, who inhabit the high meadows and pastures and whose traditional occupation is grazing their goats and sheep. The Yörüks are a people who have maintained their vitality over the centuries in the face of heavy odds. Dinner and overnight in Antalya.
DAY 7: ANTALYA CITY TOUR
Today’s sightseeing is devoted to the provincial capital of Antalya. On the way to Antalya you will visit a jewellery manufactory, in Antalya you will first take a bus panoramic city tour up to the Karpuzkaldiran Waterfall, then you will visit the traditional market area, and after the lunch you will stroll through Kaleici, the restored historical city centre which retains much of its historical character. Depending on weather conditions you will have an opportunity to take a boat cruise along the Antalya Bay. Dinner and overnight near Antalya.
DAY 8: DEPARTURE
Transfer to the airport for departure to your homeland.
